Details of your wage/award
Little Red Trucks pay you in accordance with the amounts set out by the Road Transport & Distribution Award 2010. We also make required superannuation contributions on your behalf.
Your pay and benefits are the full benefits payable to you and are paid in full satisfaction of any obligations to pay penalty rates (including public holiday rates), overtime, loadings (including casual loadings), allowances or other monetary benefits to you under any legislation, award or agreement, including the Award and any statutory minimum hourly rate.
How ‘paid breaks’ work
Breaks can be taken when required throughout the day. If a break is required at a time where it will interfere with the running of the day (ie. You will be late to the next job) the office needs to be notified.
All breaks are unpaid with the following exceptions:
- You have worked less than 3.5 hours and are forced to take a break (eg. you are running early and your client cannot start their move until the booked window). In this case, the office must be contacted to see if there are any other tasks to be done/jobs to be swapped around before taking a break.
- You have a time sector (either driving or loading/unloading) that has gone/will go over 2 hours. If this is the case, a 5-10 minute paid rest time can be taken during or after this period (eg. if you know a load is going to go for two hours or more, you can take this in the middle of the load if you prefer, and if the customer has been informed it will take place and that they will not be charged for it).
This break is to rest/stretch/hydrate and is designed so that you do not exhaust yourself on the move. The same goes for driving breaks – drivers should exit the vehicle where appropriate and take a small walk/stretch the legs before continuing.
All other breaks outside of these circumstances are allowed but will remain unpaid.
If any/either of the employees working requires a break, that break is to be taken by all/both of the employees. The need for a break overrides the desire to not take a break. Again, be sure to let the office staff know if your break time interferes with the running of your day.
How to get new/more uniform stock
If you find you don’t have enough shirts/singlets, or that the ones you have are worn/stained/ripped – let the office know! We are more than happy to provide you with extras. We’d rather you look in tip-top shape than be stingy with our uniforms. Keep in mind that if we provide an item of clothing you must wear that item when working and not any other. For example, if you want to wear a hat, it has to be an LRT hat.
All uniform items remain property of Little Red Trucks and need to be returned when worn out/damaged or at the end of your employment.
Discounts for friends/family
If you have friends or family who would like to use us we can do so at a reduced rate. Let the office staff know and a discount will be applied to the booking. This should be for close friends and family only – not some dude you met down at the pub!
How to borrow a truck
Trucks are available to be borrowed if you are a confirmed driver for Little Red Trucks and have been given management approval. This requires a manager to OK the initial borrowing and for you to fill out a ‘Use of Vehicles Out-of-hours’ form. The cost for borrowing a truck is currently set at $30 per hour for us to cover fuel & insurance costs. If you require a truck for more than a couple of hours have a chat to management – they might be able to come to an agreement regarding cost.
